Summary of Policy Terms and Conditions

The waiting period for natural causes is 6 months for all lives covered.
A benefit will be paid out during the waiting period for accidental death causes only.

Suicide exclusion for the first 12 months from inception of cover.

You qualify for this policy if:

  • You are a South African citizen
  • You reside within the borders of South Africa
  • Your dependants meet the definitions of the policy terms
  • At the inception date of the policy your minimum age was older than 21 (twenty one) and your maximum age did not exceed 65 (sixty five) years. A child is considered as a child dependant up to the age of 21 (twenty one) years
There are no upper age limits once cover is in force provided premiums continue to be paid.

An amount equal to, but not exceeding, the benefit selected at the application stage will be paid if you pass away from either Natural Death or Accidental Death. For purposes of this benefit, a claim for Natural Death cannot be lodged within the first 6 (six) months from the inception date, unless there is proof that the Insured was covered on a similar policy with an alternate insurer in the 31 (thirty-one) days before the inception date and the waiting period had already expired and where this policy is a replacement policy for such similar policy with the alternate insurer. There is no waiting period for any accidental death.
The Benefit Amount payable will be based on the following:

  • In the event of death, due to Accidental Death, the benefit will be a lump sum amount payable to the beneficiary noted on the policy
  • In the event of death, due to Natural Death, after the initial waiting period, where applicable, the benefit will be a lump sum amount payable to the beneficiary noted on the policy
  • In the event of death, due to Natural Death, during the initial waiting period, where applicable, no benefit will be paid

On the occurrence of a claim event, the policyholder or claimant must contact the Administrator on email: info@sirago.co.za or telephone: 010 599 1163 within 3 (three) months from the claim event date. The policyholder or claimant will have a further 6 (six) months in which to submit the required documentation for the claim to be assessed and finalised.
The following documentation will be required for submission:

  • A duly completed claim form
  • A certified copy of the DHA1663 – Registration of Death Form
  • A certified copy of the deceased’s identity document
  • A certified copy of the claimant’s identity document
  • A certified copy of the claimant’s bank statement (not older than 3 (three months)
  • A Police Report in the event of Accidental Death
  • Any other documentation the insurer may require in order to validate the claim
